from death to life - easter message

ree

Easter is more than a holiday marked by pastel colors, chocolate eggs, and family meals. It is the heartbeat of our faith — the celebration of love triumphing over death, hope conquering despair, and light breaking through the darkest of nights.

At its core, Easter is the ultimate message of redemption. It reminds us that no matter how broken, how lost, or how far we may feel from God — there is always resurrection on the other side of the cross. Jesus was the peace offering to God on our behalf, so that through His perfect and sinless blood that was shed, by His choice because we are so deeply loved, we were wiped clean of our sin, and through Him we can now stand, sinless, before our Father in Heaven.

Because of what Jesus did for us on the cross, God looks at us through the shed blood of His Son, and sees us as righteous and pure. Because of what Jesus endured for us we are forgiven once and for all our sins, past, present and future. Because of Jesus' love for us, when we've chosen Him over the world, we are dead to sin, and sin is no longer our master, because we are not under the law, but under grace. (Romans 6:14). We have been resurrected into new life with Him.

What We Learn from Easter

  1. God’s Love Is Unstoppable: The cross wasn’t a symbol of defeat — it was love in action. Jesus willingly laid down His life, not because we were perfect, but because we were loved. The cross is a symbol of life and victory. The life that Jesus gave up for us has now become new life inside of us. We have been blessed with eternal life in Jesus Christ because of His sacrifice. When we die to the world and it's desires, we are resurrected into new life in Jesus and we are guaranteed to live forever with Him. Life with no end with Jesus! Let that sink in. What a powerful and priceless gift!

  2. Death Doesn’t Have the Final Say: On the third day, the tomb was empty. Jesus conquered sin and death so we could walk in freedom — a truth that changes everything. Jesus is alive right now preparing a place for you in His Father's mansion. Because of Jesus, death has no hold on us. The death of our physical body is not the end, it's simply a change of address from earth to heaven.

  3. There Is Hope in Waiting: Between Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday, there was silence. Sometimes, we live in the “Saturday” seasons of life — waiting, not understanding — but resurrection always comes. When we grasp this truth, everything changes and we stop living for today and start living for eternity. Our spirit man is already in Heaven with Jesus. Our flesh is on earth. When we accept that life on earth is temporary and life in Heaven is eternal, we have renewed hope and faith in the knowing that the day of putting on our resurrected body will come. It's just a matter of time.

  4. Grace Is Greater Than Guilt: The very ones who denied, betrayed, or abandoned Jesus were the ones He restored and empowered. His grace reaches even our darkest moments.

Modern-Day Comparisons

  1. Like the women who came to the tomb, we often seek the living among the dead — in relationships, success, or approval — only to find that nothing satisfies like Christ.

  2. Many of us are walking through “Friday” seasons — full of pain and loss — or “Saturday” silence, wondering where God is. Easter reminds us that Sunday is always coming.

  3. In a world chasing quick fixes and shallow hope, Easter invites us into something deeper — a life fully surrendered to the One who gave everything for us even before we were born.

How to Apply Easter to Our Lives Now

  1. Live Like the Tomb Is Empty: Let go of shame, fear, and hopelessness. You are not defined by your past — you are a new creation in Christ. Don't let Jesus' sacrifice be for nothing.

  2. Be a Resurrection Voice: Share hope. Be light. Encourage those around you. Jesus rose — now we rise and help others rise too.

  3. Walk in Daily Gratitude: Make time every day to thank God for the cross and the resurrection. Let Easter not be a one-day celebration, but a way of life.

  4. Serve Others with Love: Jesus washed feet before He bore the cross. Let His humility and compassion inspire you to serve with joy and grace.

Take some time to reflect on the questions below. See it as an opportunity of getting one-on-one time with Jesus, thanking Him for what He endured on the cross so that we could be reconciled to our Father in Heaven. He made peace between us and God, and with God, FOR US!

Reflection Questions

  1. What does the resurrection mean to me personally?

  2. In what areas of my life do I need to experience “resurrection”?

  3. How can I live more boldly and joyfully because Jesus lives?

Easter is not the end of the story — it’s the beginning of a life forever changed. So rise, beloved. Walk in grace. Live in power. And never forget — the same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you. (Romans 8:11).

God bless you and your family,

Michelle
