The Truth About Money

ree

Many will argue and believe that money brings freedom. But what kind of freedom? While wealth can provide certain liberties, many of the richest people in the world find themselves enslaved by their possessions, yearning for true rest and peace of mind.

Many will argue and believe that money brings security. But it's not guaranteed to last. Anything can happen and it's gone. Where is your security when the money is suddenly gone?

Many will argue and believe that money is what matters; without it we can't live. Money is important, but it's not what matters. Our relationship with God is what matters because He takes care of all that matters when we're under His wing of care. Then, no matter what challenges we face in the world, we can find comfort in knowing that we are what matters most to Him.

Many will argue and believe that money establishes not only your net worth, but your worth as a person. If that's true then who are you when your bank account is empty? What is your identity when life happens and your net worth is eliminated?

Many will argue and believe that money makes you successful. There's a massive difference between successful people and remarkable people. Corrupt people and organizations have money. What are they successful at? Corruption? Remarkable success comes from knowing God and doing what He has called you to do.

Many will argue and believe money gives you options. Options to travel, to retire, to accumulate, to expand, to upgrade. Ultimately, God is the One who gives us options we more than likely never imagined were possible, and are more enriching and purposeful than money can buy, or offer...

Many argue and believe money brings happiness. For moments, yes. It's short-lived. Happiness is a feeling based on circumstance. When circumstances are challenging, painful and tumultuous no amount of money will keep you happy. Lasting joy comes from knowing the Lord, because in knowing Him you can experience joy and happiness in the midst of life's greatest challenges.

Many will argue and believe money is a reward, your possession, save it, spend it, do what you want because it's what you deserve to do with your hard-earned money... No matter how many toys, gadgets, fancy houses, cars, destinations and all the things that money can buy you have, when there's emptiness in the soul, gaping wounds in the heart, confusion, doubt and darkness in the mind, a life masquerading as something it's not will eventually collapse. Then what?
